Bengaluru to Mysuru: KSRTC Airavat Club Class Volvo B11R

The next in my series of exams was at Mysore. I did look at options to reserve a ticket to travel to Mysuru - but then, this is a route that had plenty of buses, and I did not have to reserve one.

July 05, 2019:
I left home quite early - but later than my plans. I got to the Mysore Road Satellite bus station by around 0625hrs - the driver dropped me right at the exit point of the bus station. There were a line of buses ready for departure from there - there were two Volvo B11Rs and two Volvo B7Rs - I wanted the latter, and decided to head for some refreshment and try my luck. I headed to the Nandini outlet at the bus station for some hot milk. After roaming around for a while more, I returned to the exit gate - the Volvo B7Rs were still at the tail end of the queue - I was at risk of running late if I waited. I decided to pick the first bus to depart - that was a Volvo B11R from Mysore depot, working a trip to Virajpet. As I waited for the conductor, the driver asked me to get in and informed that tickets would be sold on board.
Buses lined up for departure to Mysore

The bus got moving at around 0651hrs - they had a fairly good loads, not full though. The conductor came around to issue tickets after the bus got moving. The fare was Rs. 310. Every seat had news papers - a very good timepass! Water bottles were distributed a while into the journey. The driver was quite fast right from the beginning - Namma Metro work did hamper our pace. The bus picked more passengers at Kengeri (0704hrs) and rushed towards Mysore. I dozed off for a while, waking up only as the bus pulled in to Hotel Kamat Upachar near Maddur (0805hrs). This is a small restaurant, and is a usual halt place for KSRTC buses.

I had a very light breakfast from the restaurant and return outside to click a few pictures. The crew returned soon later, and we got moving from there by 0825hrs. As we were departing, the next bus to Mysore (a Volvo B7R) came in - made me a little sad though! The driver was quick after the break. The bus made a quick halt at Mandya to unload some parcels (0856hrs). Majority of the passengers on board seemed to be heading to Mysore. Deboarding began at Srirangapatna (0924hrs). A lot of passengers got off at the outer ring road junction (Columbia Asia Hospitals) - 0939hrs. Meanwhile, my counterpart at the examination center in Mysore had updated that I must be alighting at LIC Circle, since that is closer to the centre. I got off the bus at LIC Circle, at 0943hrs.
The bus @ Kamat Upachar, Maddur

Remarks: The bus, KA-57-F-3607 from Mysore Rural Division, Depot-2, was maintained in great shape. Both the members of the crew were great - they were quite jovial. The driver was actually sad that I didn't click his picture with the bus - he said this smiling as I was at the door to alight. Both the crew members even thanked for travelling as I got off the bus! The run time of 2 hours and 52 minutes, including the 20 minute break, was good - not too fast, and not too slow, either.
